Ozzy Osbourne posthumously received Birmingham’s Lord Mayor’s Award on what would have been the metal legend’s 77th birthday on Wednesday. Sharon and Kelly Osbourne were on-hand to accept the honor.
The Lord Mayor’s Award is a prestigious honor that is presented to individuals for “outstanding achievement or exceptional service to the City and people of Birmingham.” Sharon and Kelly accepted the award on behalf of Ozzy from Birmingham Councillor Ken Wood.
In a video message posted on the Birmingham Council’s Instagram page, Kelly said, “I just want to take a second to thank the people of Birmingham for not only showing my family so much love, but for showing up for my father in a way that made him the happiest man on the planet.”

She added, “The one thing that my father was most proud of is that he was a Brummie [Birmingham native], and Birmingham has done him proud.”
In addition to the Lord Mayor’s Award, Sharon and Kelly were presented with a Book of Condolences containing tributes from Birmingham citizens following Ozzy’s passing in July.
Ozzy passed away on July 22nd, just 17 days after he performed his final concert both as a solo act and with Black Sabbath at Villa Park in Birmingham.
