Duster co-creator addresses Saxton’s shocking death in the Season 1 finale
In a recent interview, Morgan explained what does Saxton’s death mean for Nina Hayes, revealing that Nina never expected to form a connection with the man who she was supposed to hate.
“I think it’s complicated for her, which is why I wrote it in the idea that she’s crying when he dies,” She said. “There’s tears coming out of her eyes, because all of her life, or at least most of her adult life, has been about this and this is how it ends. She could not have predicted it.”
Morgan continued, “As you get to the finale, she’s having all these unexpected moments with this guy. They have the moment when they’re in the car and they’re all singing The Spinners. She doesn’t expect to have this closeness, this camaraderie with this man. I mean, he gave her his skillet bread! It’s so complicated for her because he obviously killed her father and she’s been carrying that wound with her. But she never expected to get to know him in this way.”
