In news that will undoubtedly shock no one, Fyre Fest 2, Billy McFarland’s second ham-fisted attempt to stage a music festival after the first one landed him in federal prison for four years, has been indefinitely postponed.
According to an email sent to ticket-holders on Wednesday (yes, there were actually a few people crazy enough to send money to McFarland), the festival has been “postponed and a new date will be announced.” In the meantime, ticket-holders will apparently be issued refunds. “Once the new date is announced, at that time, you can repurchase if it works for your schedule,” the email notes.
News of Fyre Fest 2’s postponement is hardly shocking if you’ve been following recent developments. Since announcing the festival back in 2023, McFarland struggled to secure a location for the event. He initially planned for it to take place in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, only to relocate it to Playa del Carmen after local officials denied having any knowledge of his plans. However, he soon encountered similar logistical issues in Playa del Carmen, with officials stating that McFarland had not secured the necessary registrations or permits to hold the event. McFarland, for his part, insisted that he had obtained the proper permits — though upon closer inspection, it turned out to be for a 12-hour indoor listening party limited to just 250 people.

McFarland also seemed to struggled to book talent to play Fyre Fest 2 — prior to its postponement, the only known confirmed act was former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Despite all of this, McFarland was selling tickets to Fyre Fest 2 as recently as Wednesday morning, with prices ranging from $1,400 for the “Ignite” general access to $1.1 million for a “Prometheus” premium experience.
