Sigur Rós have launched the “Átta film experiment,” an album-length video series, with a new short film for their song “8.” Watch the video—directed by the Icelandic artist, environmentalist, and activist Rúrí—below. Although it officially launched today, the series also includes two previous videos, for “Blóðberg” and “Andrá.” Each of the album’s 10 songs will get a video by a different director.
“8,” said Rúrí, “immediately connected not only to the present, but also to infinity. Catharsis—soft, melancholic, powerful and uplifting.” Sigur Rós released Átta last month. In addition to the new video, Rúrí made the album’s cover artwork, taken from her 1983 performance and installation Rainbow I.
