Disturbed brought fire and unexpected rain with them to their show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion outside of Houston, Texas, on Thursday night (July 27th). A pyro display during the set-closing “Inside the Fire” set off the venue’s emergency sprinkler system, pouring water all over the stage and the band.
“Well, last night in Houston was a first,” tweeted frontman David Draiman the next day. “Our pyro set off the fire suppression system onstage at the end of the set for a surprise rain shower onstage lol.” The band itself tweeted, “Houston, we have a problem! Thank you for enduring the Fire and Water with us! We are Disturbed!”
Guitarist Dan Donegan offered more details via Instagram, revealing that some of the band’s equipment was ruined:
“Houston, we have a problem! Take a close look . This was another first in our career! Literally burning the house down. During our encore we fired off so much pyro that it set off the sprinkler system and rained down buckets 🪣 on top of us for the entire end of the show. This goes down as one of the most memorable shows for sure. Plus destroyed my in ears and and possibly other gear 🤦️. What a night!”
“Inside the Fire” has been the set-closer on Disturbed’s North American summer tour, so no songs were missed because of the sprinkler incident. Instead, it made for a dramatic end to the show.
Disturbed’s summer outing extends through a September 2nd concert in Noblesville, Indiana. Tickets to the band’s remaining dates are available here.
