Interview with Caridad Pineiro, Author of Lost in Little Havana

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Lost in Little Havana?

This is the first book in a new series – South Beach Security series. After writing a number of books set in the Pacific Northwest, I wanted a change of pace and thought setting a book in Miami would be really interesting. I’ve been able to visit there many times and hope to bring my real-life experiences in all the different areas, like Little Havana and South Beach, to readers.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Lost in Little Havana, what would they be?

I would definitely pick Unstoppable by Sia for the heroine since she’s determined to find out who is behind a human trafficking ring and also trying to help the hero find out who killed his partner. For the hero, I’d pick one of my favs, namely Something Just Like This by the Chainsmokers featuring Coldplay.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love contemporary romances, especially ones set in small towns.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I have the latest books by J.D. Robb, Raeanne Thayne, and Nancy Naigle on my TBR pile.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

My favorite scene was the first encounter between the hero and heroine since they’ve both been in love with each other forever and now that they finally admit it, whoa! So hot, but also so tender and wonderful.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I don’t write at a desk. I sit on my comfy futon, with my laptop, under a blanket and I always have the TV on.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

I do, namely “Nothing worthwhile is every easy.”

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That the important things in life are love, family, friends, and helping other.
