Days after Travis Barker proposed, Kourtney Kardashian accidentally broke the engagement ring.
The Poosh founder spoke about the moment on Episode 5 of The Kardashians and admitted she had a complete meltdown when she realized what she had done.
“I was sitting on my floor folding sweatshirts. And I took the ring off, and I put it next to me on the floor, like, thinking it would be safe right next to me,” Kardashian told mom Kris Jenner. “I had to get something up above in my closet, and when I stepped down, I stepped on the ring.”
She continued, “It really gave me, like, a nervous breakdown. And I was just like, ‘This is the most beautiful thing that I’ve ever had in my life, and how could I have done that?’”
She said she was “hysterically crying in my closet for hours.” Eventually, she called Barker and said, “I did something really, really bad.”
But Kardashian said the Blink-182 drummer “handled it the best.”
In the episode, the mom of three was not wearing the Lorraine Schwartz ring, as she told Jenner it was being fixed. Still filled with regret, she said that breaking the piece was “probably one of the worst things I’ve ever done in my whole life.”
Barker proposed to Kardashian on the beach of the Rosewood Miramar resort in Montecito, California, in October 2021. The musician set up candles and red roses on the sand, and got down on one knee. The moment was captured on The Kardashians, as was the engagement celebration after, for which Kardashian’s mom and sisters were present, along with Barker’s kids.
This April, after attending the Grammys together, the two ran off to a chapel in Las Vegas and got married—without a marriage license. Kardashian later said they wanted to get married legally, but it was impossible to find a license in the middle of the night, even in Vegas. Still, it’s the thought that counts, and an official wedding is coming soon.
“Once upon a time in a land far, far away (Las Vegas) at 2am, after an epic night and a little tequila, a queen and her handsome king ventured out to the only open chapel with an Elvis and got married (with no license). Practice makes perfect,” she captioned a post with photos of the “practice” nuptials.
