Who: Prada and Cassius Hirst
What: Exclusive sneaker capsule
Where: Available in limited quantities online at prada.com and at select Prada stores
Why: Cassius Hirst, aka the artist known as Cass, has been painting sneakers since he was 14 years old, reworking and altering them to create something raw, unfinished, and completely new. Cass showed his dad (Damien Hirst) the sneakers, who then passed along the work to Miuccia Prada herself. The rest, as they say, is history. Specifically, Cass worked on the Italian house’s classic America’s Cup sneaker, distorting the leather and rendering the silhouette in various states of distress, as the names suggest: ATT4CK, D3CAY, SUST4IN, and REL3ASE. The neon rainbow color palette offers a fresh take on a classic, showcasing Prada’s innate ability to reinvent itself again and again, and allow the younger generation to create uninhibitedly. The result? Striking collector’s items sure to find their way into a celeb closet or two.
