Interview with Carissa Andrews, Author of Immortals

master mentalism tricks

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Immortals?

Immortals is the third book in the Diana Hawthorne Supernatural Mystery series. This particular book was a crossover with my Windhaven Witches series (in particular, Soul Legacy). I was inspired to write this book the way I did because of my fans. I got a number of emails asking about when my main characters were finally going to be “together” – so the sexiness level was increased. But I also wanted to lean on the spooky, paranormal vibe of Windhaven, so there were a lot of threads being pulled that touched on the theme of immortality.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Immortals, what would they be?

Anything P!nk or Avril Lavigne! HA! In fact, I have a full playlist for Diana already. You can have a listen if you want!

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love to read urban and paranormal fantasy! (So yes, it’s what I love to write, too.) But I’m always reading nonfiction as well. I have to level up my knowledge.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’m currently reading Sins of Surrender by KF Breene, but next up is What the Lady’s Maid Knew by E.E. Holmes!

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

I loved the crossover scenes a ton because I got to play with what was really going on in Diana’s head during those scenes. But the funnest are the ones with some comedic relief. So Renaldo and Kyros (the two assistants) are the most fun to write.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

My biggest quirk is probably that I listen to an app called Binaural underneath the playlist for my book. I increase the beat to 42.0 Hz and rock out.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Followed closely by “Know Thyself.”

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

The family dynamic between all of the goofballs in Diana’s world. They each have a part to play and their presence makes everything more dynamic.
