What’s it about? What’s the plot of Dark Matter?

Dark Matter is a science fiction thriller about a man who wakes up in a life he doesn’t recognize after being knocked down by a masked man. He has a different wife and his son doesn’t exist. He also goes from being a typical college professor to being a celebrated genius. In this story about the choices we make and the paths not taken in life, he starts to wonder which version of his life is the real one.

It’s planned as a episodic series, to be available on Apple TV+.

Who’s behind it?

Apple is developing the Dark Matter TV series adaptation with Matt Tolmach (Venom, Jumanji) producing the series.

Dark Matter was previously in development as a movie at Sony with Roland Emmerich tapped to direct, but it appears the project has been moved over to Apple and is now intended to be an episodic TV series. Sony originally paid $1.25 million for the rights to the novel in 2014. It’s unclear whether Emmerich is still attached to the project or not.

What’s the status of the Dark Matter adaptation?

The adaptation is currently early in development. The last announcement about the project was made in December 2020.
